Sending Love to the Lonely at Christmas

Monday 10 December 2018

Here is one way to give a little this Christmas. It doesn’t have to cost you any money.

A New Zealand mother, Hannah Rodgers, and her son, Jayden, created a campaign called “Sending Love”. The idea was to send cards to people who were on their own for Christmas and didn’t get anything during the Christmas season. They could be rest home residents or other people who lived on their own.

Last year their campaign saw 32,000 cards distributed all over the country. This year they are aiming to bring cheer to 100,000 people.

You can create these cards yourself or get your children involved in making or decorating them. In Dunedin there is a drop off box at the Dunedin Public Library, 199 Hillside Road, or you can send your cards to PO Box 90701, Victoria Street West, Auckland 1142.

If you would like to set up a local drop box, go to their webpage at https://sendinglove.co.nz

Have fun and enjoy a good and lovely Christmas with your family.
